This is such a playful toy for all small animals including kids and cats, maybe dogs if I had. My 10-yr old cat has been watching it carefully. But my 2-yr old cat enjoys every seconds. I plan to train to the younger cat to turn on the toy by herself. I believe the training could be interesting. Another positive side effect is that my kids are doing clean-up more often since they want to watch cats playing.
